Marcus Southwell  ( –1858)

Marcus Southwell is listed in a Dublin Directory in 1842 as a pianoforte maker and tuner at 120 Abbey-street Upper. A report of a court case brought against him by a Mrs Mary Anne Keating relating to a dispute over his tuning of her piano appeared in The Freemans Journal in February 1846. This makes reference to his son being a tuner aged ‘three and twenty’, therefore born 1823. He was still living at the time of his son Marcus’ wedding in 1856.
