This was advertised on E-bay as being a photograph of Princess Victoria, eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, though we have not been able to positively confirm this from contemporary sources. The simple backstamp without the royal crest, and the address 16 Baker Street, suggests it is a very early example, probably about 1858 to 1860.

Princess Victoria was born Victoria Adelaide Mary Louisa at Buckingham Palace on 21 November 1840. She married Prince Frederick William of Prussia in the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, on 25 January 1858, and later became the Crown Princess of Prussia and Empress of Germany. She died of cancer on 5 August 1901 at Castle Friedrichshof in Germany.
